At The Royal Family Kennels, we occasionally retire one of our beloved Miniature Schnauzer moms and place her in a carefully selected forever home. Our retired adult dogs are available for $1,000, which helps cover the cost of their spay, professional dental cleaning, veterinary care, and any additional medical expenses needed before they begin their next chapter.
Our adult Miniature Schnauzers have been raised as cherished members of our family and pack. They are well-socialized, accustomed to everyday life, and regularly enjoy walks, car rides, coffee shop visits, pet store outings, and new experiences. They are harness trained and have spent their lives building confidence through positive socialization and enrichment.
Because they have formed strong bonds with our family and their pack, transitioning to a new home takes time. Most retired adult dogs need six months to one year to fully adjust to their new environment and develop a deep bond with their new family. We are looking for patient, understanding owners who are committed to providing consistency, gentle training, and plenty of grace during this transition.
Whenever possible, we prefer our retired adult Miniature Schnauzers to remain in Oklahoma or within driving distance so we can stay connected with their families and ensure an easy transition if support is ever needed. We will consider exceptional homes outside of Oklahoma; however, adopters must be willing to fly to Oklahoma and drive their dog home. We do not ship our retired adults via ground transportation, cargo, or as unaccompanied flights. We believe traveling home alongside their new family provides the safest, least stressful experience and gives everyone the best possible start together.

Zara
Zara is a beautiful 3½-year-old, 10-pound AKC Miniature Schnauzer who has been a cherished member of our family. As one of our retired moms, she has raised three wonderful litters, and her puppies are known for their confident, affectionate temperaments and have brought joy to families across the country.
True to the Miniature Schnauzer breed, Zara is intelligent, spirited, and full of personality. She loves exploring the outdoors, following every interesting scent, and enthusiastically chasing birds whenever she gets the chance. She has a healthy prey drive, a curious nature, and enjoys being out and about with her people. Zara is harness trained, enjoys walks and adventures, and has experienced everything from neighborhood strolls to pet-friendly outings.
Zara has a wonderfully independent personality that we often describe as cat-like. While she enjoys spending time with her family, she also appreciates having her own space and isn't the type of dog who constantly seeks attention. Like many Miniature Schnauzers, she's vocal and loves to let you know when she sees something exciting. Her playful, spunky personality is part of what makes her so special.
Because of her personality, we believe Zara would thrive as an only dog, where she can soak up all of her family's attention. She could also do well with calm, well-mannered dogs—especially males or easygoing females that don't feel the need to be in charge. Our priority is finding a home that complements her temperament and allows her to feel secure.
The most rewarding part of loving Zara is earning her trust. As she settles into her new home, she'll gradually build a deep bond with her family. Once that relationship is established, you'll discover the loyal, funny, and genuinely sweet companion we've been so fortunate to love.
